10 Weeks, Pregnancy Update | JackToday is a grey day. My husband made me an amazing peppermint mocha with a shot of decaf espresso. I have a warm piece of gluten-free, chocolate chip banana bread slathered in grass-fed butter sitting next to me. I guess that means I have no excuse not to sit down and update you all!

10 Weeks

Today, I am 11 weeks, 3 days along. My photo for the week was taken at 10 weeks, 5 days.

I definitely see a difference in how I’ve started to pop between 8 and 10 weeks, even though I weigh exactly the same! Thankfully, baby is growing and doing well as far as we can tell.

My 10 week appointment with my Naturopath/ midwife went well. I love working with her! She’s amazing. Sh is very patient, answers the thousand questions I come to her with, and is great at reassuring me when I’m concerned something might be amiss.

Since I’m still dealing with some digestive issues, I sometimes feel poorly, which makes me concerned about the baby. But as my midwife reminds me, baby is very protected and in his or her own little world. The important thing is that I’m eating well and making wise choices, health-wise.

Thankfully, I’ve been feeling a little better since eating more of a full GAPS diet (with exceptions here and there), so that’s encouraging. Overall, though, I feel better- more even-keeled, if you will- since getting pregnant. That’s certainly been a blessing!

We were able to find baby’s heartbeat right away, which was such a comfort to both mama and daddy! We clocked it somewhere around 170-180bpm, which further confirms my strong feeling that we’re having a little girl, but we shall see.

Benj and I already have a name picked out that we both love if it’s a girl, but we’ll have a lot of work to do on the naming front if baby turns out to be a boy!

I’m incredibly thankful that I didn’t have miserable nausea like a lot of women get. It certainly hasn’t been fun, but I’ve been able to deal with it fairly well. My roughest weeks were weeks 5.5 – 8, and I’m very much hoping it doesn’t return!

Food smells and aversions have been the worst for me. If the air is fresh, and meat is nowhere in sight, I’ll typically feel fine. I leave our windows open as much as possible and keep dirty dishes out of the sink as best I can, which helps tremendously.

That’s all for this update- 12 weeks will be here before I know it! Any early guesses on baby’s gender? We’ll be finding out around 20 weeks, and I can’t wait!
