It’s time for a new project.
Today is a particularly exciting Monday here at the Berkompas household, because today is the day that the last of our wedding thank you notes were sent on their merry way- a big batch of 29 cards to be exact!
Whew.
My writing hand is pretty thrilled for a chance to rest.
Benj and I feel so blessed and humbled by the incredible generosity of our dear family and friends. We received so many thoughtful gifts. I wanted to take my time to write truly honest, heartfelt notes of gratitude, which is one reason this process took longer than I would have liked. But hooray for starting to feel better and actually being able to write these notes! What a blessing.
Now that the thank you notes are off my plate, I’ll have more time to spare. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been excitedly thinking about my next project! Blogging is of course one thing I plan to invest more time into, but another idea recently began playing around in my mind, and I can’t shake it.
A New Project
Back in January at my last doctor appointment, my naturopath asked me what I’d been doing for fun. I had to think a minute before realizing that lately “fun” had taken a backseat because of how little I could actually do. Survival was about all I could focus on. The occasional fun activity or excursion with Benj was about the extent of it. My hobbies had all but disappeared.
Fast forward a few weeks from that first appointment with my naturopath to today. I’m seeing some marked improvement and feeling somewhat better!
If I was feeling 10-20% out of 100% before, I’d say I’m nearer to 40-50% now! Being capable of doing most of my basic household chores and functioning somewhat normally has been a blessing too wonderful for words.
Some days, I just want to jump up and down and sing because I’m so thrilled to see improvement! Some days, I can hardly believe I’m out running errands with Benj or standing at the sink washing dishes.
It’s the little things, friends. The little things make the biggest difference.
Anyway, jumping back to my idea… Both my doctor and my sweet husband have encouraged me to do something that I really enjoy doing to help me heal. After giving it some consideration, I’ve decided to try my hand at creating videos in addition to blogging.
Videography has always intrigued me, and I know that I already have some of the basic skills required, being an avid photographer. However, there’s still a huge learning curve, so I’m excited to give it a try! You’ll have to bear with me as I learn and grow and improve my currently minuscule videography skill set.
I Need Your Help!
So here’s where I need your help! I’m taking requests of all kinds for video ideas, such as homemaking (the spectrum!), meal ideas, healthy recipes, menu planning, thrifty living, cleaning, home decor, DIY projects, etc.
What kinds of videos would you like to see?
Which topics interest you?
Be as specific as you’d like! I’m up for (pretty much) anything. Leave me a comment here or private message me with your ideas. I’ll definitely be using some of them! I can’t wait to embark on this new journey with you. It’s going to be a blast!
So happy to hear that you’re doing much better! Overall good health is something I sometimes take for granted, but it’s when people like you share their journey with others that I’m reminded how blessed I am for my health.
I’m really excited that you’re going to be making videos! A few months ago I took the plunge and started a YouTube channel myself. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years now, but put off because my skills weren’t “good enough” or didn’t have the idea equipment, etc. Instead I decided to make it a personal challenge of sorts, as I’m terrible at talking in front of the camera, but so far I’m proud of what I’ve been able to do. And I’ve been uploading at least a video a week since November, so I’m really proud of that accomplishment!
I’d honestly love to see your favorite homemaking tips and tricks. Balancing household tasks with work and life is something I struggle with!
Oh, how my heart swells with joy knowing you are feeling so much better! I’m jumping and singing along with you 😉 I loooove your idea of getting into videography, and I’d honestly love to watch *any* wonderful clips of your amazing skills and talents! Your cooking is always amazing, and your home keeping skills are simply marvelous. You truly are the best homemaker I know, and I look forward to the inspiration you will share in the days ahead!!!
Much love and many hugs!

I have been your reader for a couple of years, and I am in love with your new blog! You are such an encouragement to me, although I live far away, in a small Eastern European country 🙂
Thank you also for your friendship on Facebook!
I am thrilled that you are feeling well, and please keep us updated about your health progress – it is also blessing and help to many, I am sure.
All the topics sound amazing! I would add fashion and modesty, I love your style 🙂
Blessings!
I’ve always been impressed with all the wonderful and unique cooking that you do and would love to see a step-by-step video of some of your favorite recipes!
Ditto! I’d love to see some recipes. I am on a anti-candida diet right now. (Plus avoiding chicken and eggs)
I know you’ve had to avoid many foods for your health. I want all the creative inspiration I can get using whole foods!
Grateful your healing. Praying you will continue to feel better.
Thanks for sharing!
Blessings.
I agree with Victoria- healthy recipes/ simple cooking tutorials would be lovely! Also home décor for small spaces (dorm, apartment, etc.) would be much appreciated. 🙂
